At
a presentation talk on modern origami an interesting question was asked. „So
you need origami diagrams just for others, don't you?“ Yes and no - was a quick
reply.
Razvijena ideja / A developed idea |
Yes,
it is a friendlier way to explain my design to others. No, it is not just for
them. It is also for my box of ideas. If I do not somehow note it down while
the idea is still around, I loose it. Some ideas return, some distort with
time, some appear once in a lifetime.

So,
what to do when you have neither time or skill to diagram?
Prvo utočište je saviti kopiju modela i staviti ju u kutiju s idejama.
Imajte hrabrosti savijati i ponovno rastvarati, čak puno puta :). to će vam pomoći
u razumijevanju tuđih shema savijanja. Moći ćete vidjeti gdje mislite drugačije o ostalih, a gdje imate
istomišljenike.
First
resort is to fold a copy and put it in a box of ideas. Have courage to unfold
and fold again, even many times :) This will help you in understanding other
people's crease patterns. You will be able to see where you think differently
from others and where you share thoughts.
izdižu poput planina, dok su druge udubljene poput dolina. Označite ih s dvije
različite boje. Jednom bojom izbočene, a drugom udubljene linije savijanja.
And
what is a crease pattern? When you
unfold an origami model flat, you'll see lots of creased lines. If you touch
them, you will clearly differ them: some protrude like mountains, some sink
like valleys. Mark them with two different colours. One for mountain folds, one
for valley folds.
Vrh olovke
klizi žlijebom nabora i ostavlja trag.
Markers
proved good for marking mountain folds, pencils for marking valley folds. If
you insert a piece of paper in the groove of the fold, tracing the protruding
edge above it will not make any unwanted lines. Pencil's point slides along the
groove and leaves a trace.
Kad ste napravili svoj prototip, savinite više kopija. Pomaže da se
vide i osjete mane i dobre strane tog dizajna.
Now
that you have made your prototype, make multiple copies. It helps to see and
feel the flaws and good points of the
design.
Fotografiranje je još jedan način memoriranja ideja. Glavna mana:
morate uračunati različite kutove iz kojih fotografirate. To može zasjeniti
ideju. Kod sheme savijanja možete uspoređivati omjere i odnose linija i nabora
u modelu, čak i ako vam matematika nije najjača strana. Postaju opipljivi i
vidljivi u vašem prototipu.
Photographing
is another way of memorizing the idea. Main drawback: you have to count in the
the different angles of photographing perspective. It can fog out the idea.
With a CP you can compare the ratios and relations of lines and creases in the
model, even if you are „bad“ at maths. They become palpable and visible in your
prototype.
U svakom slučaju vrijedi pokušati.
A to će biti početak puta u
svijet origami kreacija...
Nevertheless
it is worth trying.
And
this will be a beginning of a journey in the world of origami creations....
Uživajte u savijanju :)
Many
happy folds of the day :)
